Physiotherapy: About Our Service

What is Community Children's Physiotherapy?

As a community Children's Physiotherapy Team we complete assessments, treatment and manage children who have general developmental delay, movement disorders and complex physical disabilities. We work with children, young people and their families/carer's to identify goals and develop the most suitable treatment programmes for individuals. We aim to focus on function and participation in everyday life helping them to reach their full potential and improve their quality of life.

What to expect if you are seen by a Physiotherapist?

If offered a Physiotherapy assessment, service users are expected to attend an appointment at the Child Development Centre, City Care Centre, Peterborough: Here they will meet their allocated Physiotherapist. The first appointment may take up to 90 minutes during which the Physiotherapist will discuss relevant medical information and parental concerns as well as complete a physical assessment. After the initial appointment, the child/young person's Physiotherapist will discuss and develop an appropriate treatment plan based on the findings from the assessment. They will then arrange follow up appointments (if needed) according to your child/young persons need.
