Follow Up - Staying well and moving beyond CAMEO...
Beyond the crisis
“My symptoms have gone why do I still need to see you?”
Our help for each individual and their family does not end when your crisis resolves and your symptoms seem much better to you. Built into the CAMEO service is a 3 - year follow up period – this aim is to help you maintain your progress towards a full recovery and highest level of functioning including :- rebuilding social networks, housing issues, employment and education.

Following an episode of psychosis it is normal for people to have worries and fears around becoming unwell again and how they would cope. Sometimes people experience problems with painful memories or trauma associated with being unwell. Staying well work focuses on helping you to identify the early warning signs that occurred in the weeks leading up to becoming unwell. These are then used to develop a plan to support with early recognition of warning signs, what you can do to help yourself and who to contact if they do occur.
Leaving CAMEO

“What if I end up in crisis – who will I talk to?”
Although some people only ever experience 1 episode of psychosis and a full recovery we recognise that this process varies for each individual and that some will require additional support after CAMEO. Often we will arrange a meeting 6 months before the end of each person’s time in order to think about whether any further support is required after CAMEO and what level of support this should be. This may vary from being discharged back to your G.P. or referral to a community mental health team (CMHT) or assertive outreach team. Through completing measures prior to leaving CAMEO we can work out the benefits of the treatments you have received, what further input is required and how our service can be developed further.
