Assessment (Evaluation)
At CAMEO, we are able to offer you a number of different treatments or interventions that can be helpful. Each person can benefit from different treatment options, so our starting point is a thorough assessment.
1. Thorough (first) Assessment:
We like to get a clear idea of what your problems are. To do this we offer a very thorough assessment.
You will meet with a doctor to discuss the problems you have noticed and how they have developed.
Later, we will also do a structured interview (which includes some memory and concentration tests) to help us make a definite diagnosis.
Please bring a member of your family or a friend with you to the first assessment if you wish. It can be helpful if one of our team can meet them to hear from someone who knows you well what they’ve noticed about changes in your thinking or behaviour.
After we have completed this assessment, we will discuss with you and your family doctor (general practitioner; GP) exactly what the results of all our tests have shown. Together, we will then work out the best kind of treatment we can offer you to help you deal with any problems we have identified.
2. Continuous assessment:
Built into the CAMEO service is a 2-year follow up – this helps you to assess your progress towards a full recovery and also helps us evaluate (work out) the benefits of the treatments you have received.
Assessment is used to support with monitoring progress, identifying blocks, planning treatment and evaluating outcomes and the service you receive. This is likely to happen in a number of ways including:-
- Ongoing clinical assessment
- Regular meetings with professionals to review care (Care Programme Approach at 3 months and then every 6 months)
- Structured measures of symptoms and functioning
